The new plug-Store is the focal point for plug-ins for Burning Board, Burning Board Lite and Community Framework. It is primarily focused on the provision of free plugins, but also offers the opportunity to offer commercial plugins*. In addition, developers can enable even a Paypal donate button for individual plugins.
As in the WoltLab Community uploaded plug-ins are first being examined by us and/or an appointed team of us roughly on serious errors and to meet certain standards. With more investigators and a more efficient management interface for the testing, we want to make the wait for the completed check for the plug-in authors as short as possible.
With the plug-Store we want to offer a user-friendly platform, where third-party developers can offer their plug-ins to a broad mass of users. In contrast to the WoltLab Community database the Plugin Store offers a strict separation between the applications (Burning Board Burning Board Lite, Community Framework). In addition, the search for plug-ins wich are compatible with a specific version (e.g. Burning Board 3.1), is organized much easier. Users can now accurately rate offered plug-ins using a review system and go into more detail on individual points of criticism.
At the start of the Plugin Store two new update servers go online. On http://store.woltlab.com/tempest/ all plugins can be found, based on WoltLab Community Framework 1.1. In http://store.woltlab.com all plugins that are based on version 1.0. The two new servers are going to be automatically added with the next update for the forum software.
*) The option to offer commercial plugins will be offered soon. The precise terms and conditions for commercial plug-ins will be announced when we activate this function.
